Meeting with the Mayor of Drawsko

The following is the translation of the text on the official website of Drawsko. As you can see and read, the meeting went very well.

Visit from US volunteers

On June 16th, 2008, the mayor of the town and district of Drawsko Pomorskie met with three American volunteers – Katie Yates and Carol Lynn and Craig Rucin. These Americans have run a free six week course in English for all that were interested. The aim for the Monday meeting with the mayor was to talk about a plan, which a group of 10 American volunteers will complete in Drawsko Pomorskie from June 30th to July 4th 2008 .

Everyday the volunteers will perform mimes, organize sports at the playing field on Chopin park (among these will be volleyball, baseball and ultimate Frisbee). In the evenings for all who are interested, the Americans will teach country line dancing. Meetings with the Americans will provide an excellent occasion to speak English.

Generally the timetable of organized activities by the American volunteers will be published at the earliest possible time on posters or on the general city website.

Caching up since February

We as a team have been very busy, as seen by the last entry on February 1st. Since then, Katie has arrived in Szczcecinek, we have participated in an open air concert in the central square in Szczecinek, we put on an outreach for the national holiday of Children's Day at the church and have been teaching English in Drawsko Pomorskie for a six week course in preparation for the summer team coming. We will put up pictures later and also describe more of what is going on, but I just wanted to update this before it was too late.

For the team,
Katie
